Happy New Year.
It’s difficult to believe that we are approaching Lent in a little more than two weeks. It seems only a few days ago that we wrapped our Advent readalong. I’m happy to announce that I’ll be hosting a Lenten readalong that will begin February 18th. This year, I’ve chosen a classic work in the Christian tradition: “On Loving God” by St. Bernard of Clairvaux. You can download and/or read the book online for free as part of the Christian Classics Ethereal Library here. You can read more about St. Bernard here. You’ll notice he had a much publicized confrontation with Peter Abelard, (who is mentioned in “Gabriel’s Rapture”). St. Bernard is also a guide of Dante’s through Paradiso, taking over from Beatrice in Canto XXXI. In our reading of St. Bernard’s work, we will acquire a better understanding of why he is such an important figure in Dante’s Divine Comedy.
Everyone is invited to join in this reading. We’ll commence our journey by reading Chapter 1 on February 18th, and I’ll post here on that date. I hope you will join me on this journey through St. Bernard’s reflections on loving God.

I read the book all the way through and enjoyed every one of the pieces of art…they were all explained so well.
